Francesca

Earlier in the year I went on a mini vacation to Tasmania to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
During my time there I was lucky enough to stumble across a brilliant young up and coming jewellery designer "Francesca" at the Salamanca markets in Hobart.

Francesca is the gorgeous sterling silver collection of designer Hannah Vasicek. Hannah’s love affair with jewellery design began at the very young age of 12. At the age of 16, Hannah's family moved to Hobart, which in turn gave her the opportunity to sell her jewellery at the famous Salamanca Markets.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I find my inspiration from my travels, the small things in life and the latest blogs and runway shows. My travels to Asia  Europe and America recently definitely got my inspiration flowing with so many different styles and ideas everywhere! I try to jot down ideas as i go, whether it be walking through a city or sitting at home.

What do you love most about designing and creating your own jewellery?

I love the whole process from envisaging a creation, working out how to make it and delivering it to my happy customer. It is so rewarding to see other people enjoy my work and also a constant motivation to keep re-inventing my designs and creations.

How did you get your start in jewellery designing and what have you learned over the course of being a designer?

I started when i was 12 years old when i found a bead shop in my local rural town. I began saving and collecting beads to create with and i wash hooked! As i grew older i became more and more interested and saw that i could make a living from it. I have had to learn so much through being a designer, how to market myself, advertise and do all different business skills!

rings

If you could sum up your look and aesthetic in three words, what would they be and why?

When designing my jewellery i do think of three words when trying to create a uniform collection, those are 'elegant, simplicity and rich'

Do you make the jewellery yourself, and where do you have it made if not?

I hand craft the couture pieces, and all beaded work - i also have a helper who helps me bead in my Tasmanian studio. Some of the silver pieces i design and get cast in a production house so as to alleviate some of the manufacturing labour as i now stock shops nationwide with my brand as well as a flagship store down in Hobart.

How would you describe your style?

My personal style is definitely quite simple and chic! Give me a pair of killer jeans, and a blazer any day! I like to pair that with my bracelets stacked high and a signature necklace.

What new directions do you hope to move in the future?
I would love to extend my couture range to be worn on celebs and the like! Also i would love to eventually have flagship stores around Australia and be stocked internationally.

In 2012, Hannah was awarded Global Student Entrepreneur for Australia, and now has a flagship store in Hobart and stockists around Australia.

The Transparent Clutch

An interesting take on the clutch.

The clear clutch is ingenious in that it does not allow for the usual mix of random items to be thrown at the bottom of your bag, as everything that goes in will definitely be on display to the public.  Thinking about it, what girl wants everyone to see every item thrown down the bottom of her bag, when she herself probably has no idea what is hiding in the dark shallows…

So if your trying to be neat and tidy and stand out from the crowd, my advice would be to get yourself a clear clutch.

A fashion trend that will never disappear  and which continues to claim its success is The Ankle Boots Trend. Everywhere you look, ankle boots will be there. A  must in every girls wardrobe.

Ankle boots have to be the most versatile boot around, primarily because they can be worn all year round, with jeans and a blazer or a shorts and a gorgeous vest.

Whether you choose open or closed toe, leather or suede... they are definitely a worth while investment.

An array of prints

bubble cc clash floral graffiti STREETFSN jacket kate spade leggings lots of prints mary miranda STREETFSN pink STREETFSN top

Prints can sometimes be quite tricky to get right without looking like you have just come from the circus, but that's all part of the fun I guess! Because when an array of patterns are combined and when done well, the result is an artful collage that warrants a second glance.

Prints are fun and even crazy, but then what is fashion without the risk?
